Teresa

and

Denis

Wedding Party

Laura Teodori

Maid of Honor

Laura (also lovingly known as Bunny, Bunny Muffin, Kitten Muffin, Fluffy Nugget, and every other possible iteration thereof) is Teresa's baby sister, spirit animal, and OG soulmate. Laura is brave beyond compare, spending most of her life soaring over 6-foot-high jumps on horseback (and 2-foot-high jumps on foot when she was little leveraging pool cleaning tools and outdoor furniture) and relentlessly chasing her dreams, and is wise well beyond her years. Through every up and every down, she's been Teresa's endless source of love and support, helping her find confidence, strength, and courage. While they have followed very different paths, they share a core that connects them in everything we do.

Ask her about:
  • That time she sat on a scorpion in the pool when they were kids
  • The time she pulled out the computer plug during "Teresa's turn" on The Sims before she'd saved my work
  • Spiritual healing
  • Show jumping

LT: "You're definitely going to marry him. I can feel it."
TT: "You haven't even met him!"
LT: "But you're definitely going to marry him."

Laura Boswerger

Bridesmaid

Teresa was fortunate enough to be seated next to Laura (Holson) Boswerger on her first day at New Mountain Capital. She remembers having two thoughts: 1) This girl is serious! and 2) We are going to be such good friends! They spent three of Teresa's four+ years at NMC either as cubicle neighbors or office-mates, and when Teresa bought her apartment in 2014, it happened to be right across the street from Laura's (pure coincidence). She has been an unbelievable friend, partner in crime, wine buddy, and mentor over almost 10 years.

Ask her about:
  • All the work she does to help animals
  • The best places to safari
  • The best German / Austrian / Californian wines

"Friends don't let friends buy wine drunk."

Bridget Glackin

Bridesmaid

Bridget is the youngest of Sweeney children, a girl, and therefore MOM’s favorite (we know this because she is the only child to have editing rights on the annual Christmas letter). She spent much of her childhood being hardened for the cruel, cruel world by suffering the ridicule of her brothers at the dinner-table while MOM tried to discipline the boys without laughing. For a brief and glorious moment in time, Bridget, Terence, and Denis all lived in East Harlem, which resulted in such follies at dancing at a communist mock-prom party (“Promunism”), frequent mass attendance, and the attempt at reliving their childhood by seeing the “Transformers” movie. Bridget contributes to the collection of interesting Sweeney careers as a development officer at the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, a think-tank defending the rights of students and professors in higher-education. In 2012, Bridget married PJ Glackin, an event that Bridget claims Denis almost ruined by him seeing her in the church before the ceremony, though he contends that that rule only matters for the groom.

Ask Bridget about:
  • When Denis chaperoned her 21st birthday party at Fordham
  • The proper pronunciation of Worchester
  • The time Denis had to break into his old apartment when she was moving-in
Depending on when you read this, Bridget and PJ will have welcomed their first child. Denis is honored to be named godfather and looks forward offering tips on alter-serving and getting in and out of trouble.

Kevin Li

Bridesman

Kevin (Pookie) Li was a junior when Teresa started at WashU and in the business fraternity she joined, Delta Sigma Pi. Kevin was the crazy to Teresa's super straight-edge, and they became very close friends a few years after graduation, especially as Kevin began spending more time in NYC for work, translating into many evenings ordering in Kare Thai and walking to Grom or Whole Foods for dessert. Kevin is totally the brilliant creative type who generates better metaphors / analogies than... anyone (definitely Teresa's), and is both hilarious and extremely thoughtful. While obviously not the most traditional thing to have a bridesman, he's one of Teresa's very best friends, and she peer-pressured him :)

Ask him about:
  • Bitcoin tumbling
  • Dreamforce
  • What Teresa was like in college

TT: "I want a puppyyyy - they're so cute and fluffy and stupid and happy!"
KL: "... You need a husband."

Lauren Seesel

Bridesmaid

Lauren (Twinkie) Seesel (then Fleeger) and Teresa met a few days before the start of their sophomore year at WashU when they discovered they were both Olin (the business school) Ambassadors and TAs for Management 100, and became extremely fast friends. There are (very) few people Teresa has laughed as much (or as loudly) with (which is definitely saying something), between endless baking adventures / baked good hunts, Gossip Girl / Project Runway marathons, Chicago / NYC and London / Paris exchanges, moose-finding expeditions, walking chocolate tours, and failed opportunities to go upstairs. Lauren is pure sunshine, incredibly strong and thoughtful, the craziest dancer, and an unbelievable friend. Teresa can't imagine college, studying abroad, or most of the last 12 years without her.

Ask her about:
  • Art / live music recommendations
  • The best cake / cookie / cupcake / ice cream spots literally anywhere
  • How they celebrated their 21st birthday in London

Hiking Guide: "Just be careful to make some noise as you go so you don't scare / sneak up on the animals."
Us: "WON'T BE A PROBLEM, THANKS!"

Terence Sweeney

Best Man

Terence has been Denis’s life-long friend, brother, and competitor in the everlasting best-son competition (Bridget won best-child years ago). Affectionately known as Sweeney Department of Doxology, Terence is the family consultant on philosophy, Catholic doctrine, and other things on which he claims to be an expert. After some years of allegedly “Angsty Denis” hiding in his room, Terence and Denis were blessed by many formative work and volunteer opportunities that have brought them closer and closer, including alter serving, house painting, and canoeing. In his professional life, Terence commutes by peddle-bike to Villanova University, where his is a candidate for a PhD in philosophy. In his spare time, Terence serves in lay-ministry at his parish (St. Francis de Sales in West Philadelphia), god-parents prolifically (three god-children and counting) and consumes country music and light-beer (often simultaneously).
Depending on when you read this, Terence is either engaged or married to the lovely Jess Ferro, whose charm and good-nature will outshine Terence for the remainder of their days.

Ask him about:
  • The Canoe Trip
  • The Sweeney Center for Grammatical Excellence
  • The Blue Coat Brotherhood

PJ Glackin

Groomsman

PJ is the greatest addition to the Sweeney family since Bridget. Married to Bridget since 2012, PJ has fit right into the Sweeney family with his appreciation for cheese & crackers, dry humor, and Subarus. For many years, PJ worked at the Federal Reserve administering stress-tests to banks, providing him ample experience in stress-testing Liz. Although a native of Philadelphia, PJ and Bridget recently moved to Waymouth, MA, near Boston, where PJ works for State Street Bank. While we are all happy to have the Glackins closer to Liz in New Hampshire, the proximity is allowing PJ to make strong moves in the best-son competition through his contribution to chores (very distressing for Denis and Terence).

Depending on when you read this, Bridget and PJ will have welcomed their first child, who hopefully will absorb so much grandmother time that Liz (Denis and Terence’s mother) will not have time to worry about her sons’ nuptials.

Ask him about:
  • His motorcycle ride with Denis
  • North Catholic High School
  • The time Bridget out-kicked him in the last quarter-mile of a marathon they ran together

Nicholas Teodori

Groomsman

Nick (Nickle Pickle / Coco Latte) Teodori is Teresa's big brother and partner in crime over literally her entire life. There were few things more exciting in her childhood than watching him beat Mother Goose for the first time on their first computer (and endless rounds of Mario Kart / Sonic the Hedgehog / Megaman thereafter), having him play "the bad guy" in their "princess locked in a tower" game, and cheering him on while he crushed his taekwondo tournaments in thrilling places like Little Rock, Arkansas. Teresa has always looked up to him as a role model, and he is endlessly loving and supportive - she couldn't be luckier to have him as her big brother.

Ask him about:
  • When Teresa lost her passport on their junior high school Europe trip
  • The best cocktail bars in SF
  • Cloudy the Goat & Dreamforce
